Welcome to Heritage Dry Ice Blasting Ltd
Welcome to the UK’s Premier Dry Ice Blasting service
We are a leading specialist dry ice blasting company, established nearly 5 years ago, and carry out a vast range of cleaning applications.
Dry ice blasting, otherwise known as cryogenic cleaning, involves the use of dry ice being propelled at speed onto a contaminent, which becomes embrittled and as the gas expands, is released from the surface. They dry ice just disappears back to gas, therefore no added mess.
Dry ice cleaning is a much more suitable alternative to traditional sand and shot blasting methods, that are messy and abrasive and banned from certain restoration processes. This process has become the preferred method of paint removal from oak beams, as it does not damage the wood, and leaves tool marks/ritual marks intact, and allows us to sympathetically blast timbers that have suffered from woodworm damage.
We are a specialist dry ice blasting company based in Essex and use the Karcher IB 7/40 and are a complete mobile unit. We offer both RESIDENTIAL and COMMERCIAL services in East Anglia and the Home counties, and much of the UK and can even undertake projects overseas. We also carry out historical restoration projects.
We have recently undertaken several projects on grade 1 listed and grade 2 star listed properties, as well as carrying out restoration work on an vintage Landrover 80, and helping to restore 2 fire damaged cottages in Essex.
The carbon dioxide is environmentally friendly, as it is a bi-product of an alternative manufacturing process and is recycled. By using solid CO2, no extra cleaning medium is added to the cleaning process, and all that remains is the contaminent being removed.
Dry Ice Blasting is perfectly safe around electrics and pipework. Please look at some more pictures on our process page. We are also able to offer poultice cleaning, which is suitable for paint removal from softwoods such as pine doors, and delicate surfaces and spindles and bannisters, as well as also removing paint from oak beams
Sandblasting Alternative for Beam restoration.
With over 19 years’ experience in the industry myself, Claire McKennon knows a thing or two about Oak Beam Restoration in Essex. Years ago if you wanted to get your beams restored the only real solution would be to sandblast them. The main issue with Sandblasting your oak beams is the mess and fuss it creates, even if you are very careful when sandblasting sand residue can be found days after and due to the harsh nature of the treatment the need to re-decorate or re-plaster may be an added expense that the sand blasting treatment could help incur. Because of the harsh nature and abrasiveness of Sandblasting it has been banned on some restoration projects and the National Trust does not use it within its work.
